Advanced Kick Detection

imageportofolio Flow Back Monitoring Analyzing connection “flow back” trends to identify kicks. Every connection mud flows back to pits, traditional kick detection is almost blind because of increase pit volume and lack of flow, & reduction in ECD while pumps are off makes it more likely a kick will occur. Software automatically plots fluid flow at each connection, any deviation from “normal” is easily recognized, by Driller or Mud Loggers.

High Speed Gas Chromatography

  • Default C1, C2, C3, IC4, NC4, IC5, NC5 & C02 (others possible), sampled & analyzed every 30 seconds (or less).
  • Non-flammable Helium reference gas (safety consideration, particular in offshore work).
  • Columns with independent solid state injection, analytical & reference column, thermal conductivity detector.
  • Excellent separation of all gases.

Gas Ratio Analysis

  • The ANAX 500 system provides several gas ratio analysis methods processing data from the high speed chromatograph.
  • RT wetness, balance and character ratios indicate the hydrocarbon type specified as its grade (heavy oil, medium, light, condensate gas, light gas).
  • Individual plots of specified zones generate Pixler Plots to characterize productive or non-productive oil or gas, with relative permeability.
  • The users may define their own hydrocarbon ratios (or ratios from any other parameter calculated by the ANAX 500 system.
  • Standard hydrocarbon gas ratios are used to determine oil/gas/water contacts.

Formation Pressure Evaluation

Qualitative techniques are used as the basis for formation pressure evaluation analysis. Parameters monitored include:
  • Dxc (the primary measurement)
  • Gas relationships (background gas,
  • Connection and trip gases, ECD, MW)
  • Drilling Fluid Temperature.
  • Drilling Fluid Conductivity.
  • Rotary Torque, Fill, Overpull.
  • Cuttings character;
  • Cavings, Shape and volume.
  • Analysis of formation pressures in shaly sequences qualifying under-compaction disequilibrium.
